Aim of the course

The Master in Health Education for Children, Adolescents and Young Adults is designed to provide training for professionals in the health education fields, in particular in schools aimed at young people, and in quality evaluation of health establishments and health programmes.
All courses are delivered in French.

Syllabus

The Master in Health Education for Children, Adolescents and Young Adults is now considered to be a basic subject in the education system and the official syllabus has been updated to include health education. However, personnel in the National Education system and associated organisations are often still inadequately prepared to deal with the complexity of the issues raised by health education within schools.

Providing training for all those involved is a priority agreed by all experts. In a field such as this where educational action only finds its full relevance within the framework of projects involving a variety of organisations, it is essential to set up a culture common to those involved and those working in education (management of the National Education, education advisors and teachers), as well as in health (nurses and doctors), health prevention (departmental health education committee (CODES) network, health insurance, associations) and local authorities.

Job prospects

The Master is a professional qualification diploma for preparing education and public health experts for posts such as:

  • Educators, education counsellors,
  • Advisors for Academy Inspectors and Rectors,
  • Co-ordinators of priority education networks (REP) and priority education zones (ZEP),
  • Managers in local authorities,
  • Managers in associations and mutuals,
  • Managers in institutions organising prevention strategies in administrations,
  • And any post that deals mainly with missions for implementing health promotion projects between partners for children, adolescents and young adults.

Eligibility

The Master is designed for full-time or professional development students. They must have a Bachelor’s degree to be eligible for the first year Master 1 or a Master 1 or equivalent diploma to be eligible for the second year Master 2. Professionals who do not have the requisite university level may be accepted after an assessment of their professional level (validation des acquis professionnels – VAP) or experience (validation des acquis de l’expérience – VAE).

This Master’s diploma is intended principally for:
