Objectives
One of the main concerns of our society is to implement a sustainable development policy covering environmental and human health.
This implies the deployment of political and managerial strategies, by the state and by businesses, to integrate the different aspects of development which involve many complex interactions that sometimes work in synergy and sometimes conflict with each other.
The ability to understand these aspects in an integrated, interdisciplinary manner requires the development of new skills that the EHESP and MINES ParisTech can provide through this new Post-Master.
The program will provide students with a firm grounding in environmental health and methodology, enabling them to:
- Play a role in drawing up state or business projects by providing an overall view of the issues at stake.
- Provide consultancy for strategic policy-making for major industrial groups or state institutions taking account of health, environmental and economic factors.
- Develop and use tools for social and ethical evaluation and regulation.
Program description
The program combines academic work and a practical work placement and lasts 12 months.
It comprises:
An academic program (45 ECTS) with five modules (about 530 hours)
- Basics of environmental health
- Major environmental issues and their impact on the environment and consequences on health
- Environmental health in industrial strategies
- Environmental health in planning and development
- International social and ethical rules and regulations
Teaching is based largely on dynamic approaches combining case studies, role-playing, group work, field and study trips. Teaching is provided by lecturers from both institutions as well as by many recognised external experts.
Programs will be given in French (except for some conferences)
The program will be held in Paris
Placement and thesis (30 ECTS)
Students will spend some time in a public or private institution working on a subject that is related to environmental and sustainable development issues. During this mission, and while writing their thesis, students will be supervised by experts from the EHESP or MINES ParisTech. The thesis will be a tool for reflection for the host establishment but may also contribute to defining future lines of research.
