portrait_amphi2_ehespThe Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Santé Publique (EHESP) was set up to provide a school of higher public health studies in France. From 1 January 2008 it began to expand its skills and international scope which called for a reorganisation to carry out its new missions.

The final structure of the establishment is in the process of being set up and the information given below will soon be updated.

ADMINISTRATION

The general services are based in Rennes and managed by the General Secretariat:

  • human resources
  • communication and public relations
  • management control
  • administrative, financial and legal affairs (including legal, purchasing, contracts, budget, finance and travel services)
  • information and technology system
  • infrastructure (including services, building maintenance, secretariat, accommodation and catering)
  • accounts

COURSE MANAGEMENT

Course management covers:

  • initial training
  • professional development
  • preparation for entrance examinations
  • educational resource centre.

RESEARCH MANAGEMENT

Research management covers:

  • the PhD unit
  • partnerships and application
  • publication of the School’s research and papers written by its research scientists.

The department’s mission is to promote EHESP’s training activities, research and expertise at the international level.
In relation with the training departments and research centres, it is responsible for :

  • the design and implementation of support programmes to human resources development for third countries, through integrated training design activities,
  • the coproduction of international training courses and degree courses and the promotion of EHESP courses open to international students,
  • the development of a mobility and exchange policy between French and international students, professors and professionals,
  • the promotion of research activities at the international level.

The director for international relations is also joint director of the research centre for international and humanitarian health.

EDUCATIONAL AND RESEARCH DEPARTMENTS

The EHESP will be organised into departments, some of which have already been set up:

The missions of the departments will be:

  • training managerial personnel responsible for health administration
  • providing higher education degree courses
  • research
  • international relations

INTERDISCIPLINARY RESEARCH CENTRES

The interdisciplinary research centres will either

  • promote partnerships with major research bodies; universities and partners in the public and private sectors with the status of a Mixed Research Unit

or

  • will be part of a project to apply for the status of a specific or mixed research unit in particular with research bodies; other universities and university teaching hospitals; welfare agencies; non-government organisations or industrial partners.
