Curriculum

I began my research with three main objectives: town, habitat and health. In 1991, I was seconded to CERMES (Centre de recherche Médecine, Science, Santé et Société (Research centre for Medicine, Science, Health and Society), CNRS UMR8169, INSERM U705, EHESS). As a licensed lecturer in the history of health chair at the Public Health Advanced Studies School (Rennes & Paris) since 1 September 2009, I am now an associate Professor in this laboratory.

Research

I am currently working on the investigation of three areas: a compared history of "health safety" in the Transatlantic world over the past thirty years (Tempêtes microbiennes, pub. Gallimard, 2013); a history of the "internationational governance of infectious risk (Epidemics, Frontiers, States, 1865-2005), finally one on influenza.

Expertise

  • Member of the specialist Commission on transmissible diseases, for the Public Health High Council since 2009.
  • Coordinator of the social science chapter of the Report on emerging infectious diseases, dir. Catherine Leport and J.-F. Guégan, La Documentation française, 2011.
  • Co-organiser of the Val-de-Grâce Seminar on "Emerging Infectious Diseases: latest information and proposals", 2011-2014. Member of the Commission of health and social protection on the higher Council of research and strategic training (Section X) since 2013.
  • Member of the national evaluation Committee on hepatitis B and C, Public Health High Council (2011-2012), report published in La Documentation Française in 2013.
  • Chairman of the task force on Lyme's disease, Public Health High Council.
