DSET faculty stand in several national or international expert committees within in particular the French agency for health security (ANSES), the High council for public health or the WHO-Euro (see each person for detail).

Consultancy services for ANSES (French agency for health security)

Jean Carré and Pierre Le Cann are members of the ANSES committee of specialists. Jean Carré is a member of the working group on the health and environmental impact of re-using waste water as well as the working group on the contamination of shellfish by the hepatitis A virus and the guidelines on the characteristics of seawater used for the production of drinking water.

Nathalie Bonvallot and Philippe Glorennec are members of the committee of experts for the evaluation of health risks related to the atmosphere.

In May 2009 Jean-Luc Potelon was appointed expert to the committee for the evaluation of risks related to chemical substances relating to the provisions of the European REACH directive.

Pierre Le Cann is an expert for the working group on the methodology for treatment of waste water and the Detection of legionella in water.

Olivier Blanchard is an expert for the working group on category 3 endocrine disrupters and reprotoxic substances.

Michèle Legeas, a member of the scientific committee, chaired the group of experts on the highly pathogenic avian influenza virus attached to the committee of experts for water and biological agents which worked on the development of a sampling strategy in aquatic zones if birds are found contaminated by the H5N1 virus (report published in May 2009 on the AFSSET website).

She is a member of the working group on the evaluation of the health risk (general public and workers), in the case of epizootic or influenza epidemic: presence of influenza virus A H1N1 in water effluent, in progress, 2009.

Consultancy services on request by public or private bodies

Ministry of Health Directorate General of Health

A technical guide produced by a working group chaired by Jean Carré to provide a framework for action by public health approved hydrogeologists was published by the Ministry of Health in the series Players and strategy: protection of water catchments.

In 2009 Jean Carré undertook a consultancy mission on the bacteriological and radiological quality of drinking water in West Guyana at the request of the Guaya DSDS (Directorate of Health and Social Development).

Philippe Glorennec and Nathalie Bonvallot are members of the Health Research in the Indoor Environment (RSEIN) run by INERIS (National Institute for Industrial Environment and Risks) and OQAI (Indoor air quality monitoring observatory).

In 2009 Michèle Legeas attended the WHO Global Outbreak and Response Network conference. She was also a member of a scientific committee monitoring a study on drawing up a specification for producing bathing profiles, on behalf of the Loire-Brittany water board. She was a member of another scientific committee monitoring a study on drawing up vulnerability profiles in shellfish farming areas, also for the Loire-Brittany water board.

She was invited to take part in a working group relating to the standard content of ERSEI impact study health risk evaluations for pig carcass composting units undertaken by the IFP, and a committee of experts run by DREAL Bretagne (Brittany Regional Department of the Environment, Development and Housing) on the risks associated with the decomposition of green algae on the shore.

As part of the setting up of long-term cooperation between the EHESP and Mali, Michèle Legeas, professor at the DSET (Department of environmental and occupational health) undertook an in-depth prospective environmental health study from 24 June to 8 July 2009: this mission should lead to a research project (health and sewerage), consultancy services (environmental evaluation round gold mines) and training (environmental health in a Public Health Master).

In late 2008 to early 2009, Nathalie Bonvallot carried out a consultancy mission on kepone on the request of the kepone committee set up by INSERM (National Institute of health and medical research). In 2008 – 2009 she provided consultancy on trichloroethylene as a member of a WHO technical committee on guide values for indoor air.

Nathalie Bonvallot is a member of the Primequal scientific committee run by the Ministry for the Ecology, Energy and Sustainable Development and the Sea and Ademe (French Environment and Energy Management Agency).
