In July 2011 Xavier Bertrand, Minister of Health, appointed Karine Gallopel-Morvan, associate professor in social marketing at the EHESP, as expert to submit a report to the government proposing solutions to reduce the prevalence of smoking in France (which increased by 2 percentage points between 2005 and 2010 to reach 28.7% of people smoking daily).

The report is to be submitted to the minister in January 2012.

This mission is run by Yves Bur (Member of Parliament for Bas-Rhin) and brings together about 20 French anti-smoking experts (associations, doctors and researchers) as well as institutions (DGS, INPES, IGAS, INCa, OFDT, etc.).
