Starting from 18 December 2024, EHESP stops all publishing, republishing and engagement activities on its institutional and services X accounts (education support centre CApP and Library). This decision comes after a year of reflection and observation of the platform’s evolution. EHESP, active on Twitter since 2009, has seen the platform’s usage and publication rules change significantly after its acquisition and renaming by billionaire Elon Musk in 2022.

The end of moderation and account blocking features, the removal of verified accounts, the introduction of paid subscriptions as a sine qua non for visibility, and the non-compliance with EU digital services regulations have led to an amplification of fake news, discriminatory and violent language, and conspiracy theories. These new rules do not ensures neither the reliable dissemination of high-value information nor the respect of public debate, which are essential values shared by EHESP.

With this action, the School aims to contribute, as other French universities and ‘grandes écoles’ have done in recent months and weeks, to the collective awareness of the importance of choosing communication channels that respect exchanges and people.

EHESP encourages its community to visit its website and follow its other social media accounts to stay updated on the institution’s news:
